Not sure what happened, but I thought I copied the link from CNN that read the DNC knew of the attempted hack, into their computer, removed the threat themselves, in house, and that is why they declined the help of of Johnson and his departure to help them when his department became aware of this activity.
It looked to me like damage control from the directors testimony this week where he testified to the senate they rejected his help.
When he was questioned further in the matter, as to why they would reject the offer, he said he didn't know and he was troubled by it....

Common sense would lead one to think the DNC would explain to the director at the time why his help wasn't in need, as a course of communication.

Or the director lied, or, he is a mole for Trump, or Russia, or......

Yeah Web, that was what I think the DNC was trying to X plain.... the why.
Which would mean they erased any links that might be traceable, from the computers, for the story said they removed the threat, and that is why they declined.....
