Stock Market
07/14/17 at 05:14:43

I read an great point by someone today. The stock market has been for the most part, completely unaffected by the constant fake news about Trump's missteps and what some of you think are the guaranteed upcoming resignation or impeachment. In fact, the value has gone up. I know my 401k balance has soared.

The idea is that when people actually put their own money up, partisanship gives way. This is why some of the gambling futures markets did not show Hilary winning by a large margin and some even predicted Trump's victory. This is also why our little friend TT yaps loud but runs for mommy when challenged to put cash on the line.

The column went to got conclude that investors have decided either one of two things or perhaps some combination.

1) Fake news has completely permeated our media to the point the daily news cycles are ignored and only specific items that have a long media life are given consideration as possible truths.
2) They balance the spin put on by each side. Assume 90% of what CNN says is not true, 90% of what Fox says is not true, and you might have 50% of the truth.

If investors really thought resignation or impeachment was a real possibility, they would be more cautious. Or they would be searching for opportunities to benefit from that, but neither of those things are happening.

Yep - Mine too!!  Thanks tweety!  You're still an idiot.

LOL - yeah, that's me!... But seriously, a gambling problem can be serious.  Grade school taunts are... well... pretty pathetic web...

LOL - it's funny you still think it's fake news.  Are you really that clueless?  How is it tweety and his gang can hoodwink you so easily?

TT, not one of your responses gave any information or discussionable(?) response. Talk about grade school taunts. I generally see nothing but them from you.

I usually just lurk at the table but I can't help but notice that almost all of your responses are simply smart-aleck comments and name calling. You even turned the sticky discussion on how to behave at the table into a name-calling slugfest.

It's no wonder no one here likes you. Frankly, it's not your politics. It's one thing to be a voice contrary to most member's stances. I believe most members here would welcome discussion, but you can't seem to do that.

I don't think there's anything more to be said after that. We can probably just close this thread right now!

He revels in stifling opposing positions. Not discussing, just stomping them dead. And he WILL pretend whatever is necessary to frustrate someone until they stop trying. Meaningful dialogue is not something any observant person would expect from him. So, why bother typing and trying when you know how many opposing Facts you need to change his mind is infinity plus one?
Maybe if everyone stops responding he will just go away.

Bobert.

Thanks for your comment.  It's nice to "see a new face" on this board.

Did you get a chance to see my suggestions for "rules of conduct"?  I wasn't kidding about them.  I voted in the affirmative to uphold them and I would if it were voted in.  No joke.

At any rate - I took some time to go back into the archives of this room.

It's sad really.  It's been the same 4 or so people that love to bully those that have contrary opinions.  They "gang up" on newbies and hound them and treat them as less than themselves.

Now, what I'm doing to them, is what they do to others.  It's tough wearing that shoe, ain't it boys?

If you haven't already, please go look back at my other posts on other threads.

I show no love for hillary.

I've called out Obama being a corporate shill.

I've put CNN in the same category as MSNBC and fox.

I support the Second Amendment.

I don't support a $15 minimum wage.

I'm not a fan of the "college for all" mentality.

I've called the democrats "pu$$ies".

I'm anti-establishment.

There is more - but you should find out for yourself.

It comes down to simple respect Bobert.

If I'm not shown any - I don't give any.  However, when called out on going too far - I have apologized.  When posting something out of line, I've used the phrase "my bad" more than once.  I'm human - I make mistakes.  I own them.

I hope you can see, since you and I have never exchanged pleasantries, I'm not badgering you and calling you out.

Why would I.  I have no reason.

Whether or not you believe me - I'll take your criticism to heart.  I honestly hope you speak out more as opposed to lurk.

Lastly, I would ask that you don't judge a person on one thread - on one argument.  That's all.

Cheers.

No, I won't - but nice try.

Funny - everything you state about me is true of you.

Classic projection!  (man, I could start a psych class in this room!)

Web, I will take a guess.....

I work for Boeing, it is so diverse in the global market, that local economies don't have much sway or impact on their over all investments.
A down market in Europe, but an upmarket in Asia, etc, balances out.

Now take that to our stock market.
The investors want to make money, duh.
These investors have jobs, so to speak, to earn money so they can invest.
One job holder is a democrat politician.
Another a republican politician.
Both invest in that market, hoping for the same effect, earnings.

Well the democrats jobs is to keep his job, so he can earn money to buy more stock, get richer.

Same with the republican.

A great investment is the war industry.
Pays great returns.

Both wanting high yields, invest in those companies.

The republican does it straight up, under the the guise of a strong force reduces the risk of war, etc.

The democrat talks chit about war, to keep his job, but has no qualms about investing in those industries covertly.

Re: the media, like a evangelical traveling pastor pitching his tent in a new surrounding every night, he gets a fresh cash crop from those wanting to pay to hear what they want...

He does it under the name of Jesus.....
The media does it under the name of capitalism.
The very same capitalism that practices sexism and racism for profit.

And the aristocrats lived happily ever after, as the useful fools, like the little piggie, went, oink, oink....... all the way home   Grin
