Still some tweaks on the fit in axle area, need to short the spacer on the drive side a bit. Chain will be close to top wishbone but should be okay. Kickstand next. Then a smaller bar under the backbone to carry electrics and a seat.

The front suspension doesn't have telescoping forks, it's a telelever design. Brake as hard as you want...zero fork dive. BMW has been using this design on their high-end models for decades.

To the braking and ground clearance questions; there's about 4.5 inches of clearance at rest at the lowest point. The forks have about 4.5 inches of linear travel which translates to just under 4 inches vertical travel. I was a bit worried about clearance on full fork compression so I deflated the air shock and measured about 3 inches under the engine cradle. I don't expect to be off road so I think I'll be okay Wink

Tonites project was finishing up the kickstand. Thanks to Smokin Blue for facing off and dimensioning the pivot tube.

The handle bars are what I ran this fall for shake down. They will get re-done once the tanks are done.

The bike looks great and is a work of art......and maybe I should just keep watching the show and keep my mouth shut........but I am a bit of a worrier at times.....I sure would hate to see you go too much farther along without trying a fit of the "real engine in the new frame. I would want to be sure you can get the engine in the mount you made without any problems with alignment of the sprockets or clearance issues.

You must be a mind reader

Though the engine template was made from the Savage frame and I have fitted the pattern that made the engine plates to the engine I have yet to push bolts through and connect the finished plates to both sides of the engine. I have the chain and sprockets on order and plan to do exactly as you suggest and check fitment of engine, chain and sprockets shortly. I plan tack cross-members in both rear wishbones to carry a rear fender but only final weld after all above is fitted. Thanks for watching!

That rear triangle reminds me of some very expensive handmade steel bicycle frames where those curves are there to help give a bike a more compliant ride. Sandmanred might end up with one of the most comfortable hardtails in existence.

After all the drive train fitting the seat is next. It's surprising how rigid that frame is, I thought it would flex more. So I plan to use another air shock for the seat with a travel of 2.5 inches.
