Looking good. Nice work as always.
Thanks!
Today's progress on the mounts. Still a lug to add to frame in the rear and a tab to come off the tank to pick up the lug.

So enjoyable watching you build this thing from scratch.

I hope you assemble the whole thing and ride it a bit before you decide to paint, JIC you need to add a tensioner on the chain.

Yes, several weeks of shakedown before final finish are in the plan. Chain passes are one concern. The tank mount is another. Even without the rear fastened the tank feels pretty good. I think the cushions will be adequate to protect the tank from shaking apart but firm enough to keep them lined up with the frame. And who knows what else might need a tweak? That and I can't wait to get it out for ride...
Thanks for looking!

I think I'll go into shakedown with a brushed finish on the tanks. Here's a test patch on the corner closest to the camera. It looks a little lumpy in some areas with a high polish, the brushed look masks most of the lumpiness.

I would be several months of shakedown for me. It's shaping up to be too awesome to park during the summer.

I am afraid that if I tried to make a tank this way.....I would have to use 1/4" thick metal to give me enough material to file/sand/buff away my lumpy mistakes!

Rear tank lug set. Cushions feel right, firm enough to hold, soft enough to cushion. On to tank two.

Still lots to do but starting to take shape. I had to take a small scallop out of the corner of the more complete side to allow for cables to pass. Will have to do the same for the other to get around the stem lock.

Side by side. They match up fairly well. Mounting to frame next is the next challenge.

Very nice , a true craftsman ! That would be ten years of work for me and it wouldn't look that good. If you weren't worried about fuel capacity you could hide all the electrics inside one of the tanks. I think your building a show bike.
