Apparently not because due to money issues, it's better for you and I that little Charlie die. And since the NHS of Britian owns him, they can do to him what they like. He's not the son of a man and woman, he's an asset of the state which has been deemed unproductive and a future liability.

So whenever I see or hear someone exclaim healthcare is a human right, I'll just laugh from now on because that's a joke.

The right to healthcare can mean that its not restricted or it can mean its free. People mix these two and get into arguments based off of the definition and not the actual problems.

I disagree with the System,but socialised or private health insurance, nobody is gonna keep that poor thing alive.
And the American doctors have said that he is beyond help.
Without society pooling resources to pay the doctors and buy the machines that people use to sustain life, he would have been Dead within a day. The system that is turning off the life saving stream of nurses and doctors and unplugging the machines is What kept him alive in the first place. I wish they hadn't moved so slowly, apparently the time played a role in their determination that he can't be helped,

Good point.

In this case, the parents raised funds to take their son elsewhere and try other treatments. The NHS took ownership of him and would not release him. The only reason they did this was to control cost. Their fear was his condition would improve enough that they would return home and the NHS would have the cost of providing healthcare for the rest of his life which they know would be expensive.

This is a fraction away, the first steps in a policy that turns away patients with higher stages of cancer for example.

Either way, They would have been embarrassed and their credibility shot. But, the American doctors changed their minds, or, so they say.. Maybe they are colluding..
