Israel has enormous influence in NY and Wash, DC. They are in fact bolstered by some Christian groups due to the Judeo-Christian tradition the Old Testament being Jewish (Christianized over the centuries to be prohesizing the Christ, and thus Christianity). The State of Israel was founded by Europeans as a dumping grounds for the unwanted Jews of Europe to include Russia. American Jewry helped fund it, and worked hard to get politicians in the East Coast who supported it elected. It was considered our aircraft carrier in the oil rich Middle East, a major reason our congress has joined in.
I personally agree that the US alignment with it has benefited Israel more than the US. Having run afoul of it when I questioned a Mossad report of a car bombing, my intelligence unit commander (Jewish) and the DIA Terrorism Branch Chief at the time (also Jewish) told me to rewrite my assessment so it didn't question Mossad. I respectfully declined (which is why I could never work for Tru**) noting they could overwrite my comments. Boy was I shocked when my request the following month for a 6 month tour was not declined, just lost. Grin

I do however believe the Jewish state of Israel has the right to exist, and they have had a hard time of it. They are a smaller version of the US, in that they have a brown minority population which will soon become a majority, just like us. They built a wall to keep the brown neighbors (whose lands they have annexed be force of arms) at bay, does this sound familiar. Interesting, the arabs and the Hispanics are following the same strategy (I don't know if it is on purpose) of having more births that the gals presently in charge. Israel is helped by the Palestinian familial and tribal system which is manipulated into fighting each other rather than Israel. West Bank doesn't like Gaza Strip. Soon within decades)us white guys will be the minority here, as will the Jews in the Jewish State.

Addendum -on page 33 of a US Census Brown Bag Report?, the author indicates that the minority under 18 year olds will become the majority in 2018; and that the minority population as a whole is projected to become the majority population in 2043.

This is why the Democratic Party is pushing itself as the Party of Black and Browns.

This is a response to the UN's unreasonable vendetta against Israel. The UN 'human rights' commission (biggest joke of a name next to the ACA; affordable care act) and their resolution to encourage nations to blacklist their companies who do business with Israel.

Apparently, there are already laws on our books doing this same thing, but, I'm not entirely sure how much further this law is proposing those restrictions go.

Have no idea if it will pass or not or even what ramifications it will have. Probably none because I doubt any of us were aware of existing laws.

The real issues is the UN committees who side with the Palestinians for no good reason. Typical anti-Israel sentiment which has it roots in a topic suitable for a different thread!

I agree with you on this Jog. I doubt it will pass. You can restrict what government agencies and to a certain extend, what business can do, but you can't restrict what citizens think.

Well, now that I typed that, I realize that's not true. I get legally punished if my opinion is that homosexuality is a deviant behavior, not within the norm. My ability to operate in the economy can be legally restricted if my opinion does not line up with what the media decides to enforce. Notice there have been no lawsuits with gays being refused service by Muslim bakers or if there have been, that fact has been widely censored from the general public hearing about it. Part of that is due to liberals and the media being afraid of the physical ramifications of confronting Islam. Again, that's another topic.

That's because the Muslims set up shop on the top floor of at least four story buildings and have their cake book set up on a table on the roof.

One of my points is
Regardless of whether it passes or not, whoever wrote it and whoever supports it are just guilty of being absolutely UnAmerican. To write a LAW that would punish a Free Citizen for disagreeing with the policies of anyone else and choosing to engage in separating themselves from doing business with them is as screwed up as trying to stop someone from defending themselves.
Ohhh, but for our government to posture and pretend that a nation deserves punishment and lay out sanctions against them that create unnecessary and logically unsupportable hardships that could lead to war, well, we're just supposed to stand up and Cheer their courage.
