Amazon is the new Sears?

Interesting article. Don't know how many are old enough to remember the Sears catalogue days, but I do. I was raised by my two aunts and one of them worked at Sears. When the new catalogue came out, it was a big deal.

That's interesting.
Sears sold houses.
Maybe retail won't suck.
Watching the stores close bothers me.

I think men still want to walk through stores and look at 'toys'. I order a few things on Amazon from time to time, but nothing like wandering the aisles and looking for something you can't live without, but didn't know it until you saw it. What was the last spontaneous thing you bought but didn't plan on it; you just happened to be at a store? Gander Mountain's going out of business and I bought some fishing stuff, but wandering around the place, I bought a stainless steel whiskey flask. No real reason, it's not like I needed it. Its still in the package in my drawer.

Buy local or watch them die.
Mall deaths are my fault.
I went to Radio Shack, occasionally, but they have been dying for years.
Their store stock dwindled to crap.
Sears sees me when I need tools.
But if I can get a petcock in town, I'll Pay that couple of bucks to support the local economy.
I use a small, family owned hardware store instead of Lowe's and dragging me into Home Depot isn't possible unless it's Not Available elsewhere.
