NFL.......
11/12/17 at 11:10:07

So, I read that the players will forgo kneeling today as a gesture of respect for the veterans, nice......

Then, doesn't that mean that it is disrespectful then when they kneel?

It is not sorta like Harvey Weinstein saying he did nothing wrong to women, but out of respect for them he will only rape Kevin Spacey today  Grin

They put flags on all the graves on Memorial Day...
Is it disrespectful on the 364 days they don't?... Huh

Not sure if that reasoning extends itself....
Do they NOT put them on those other days as a form of expression?

I think not.
I would say it has to do with feasibility.

If taking a knee is a political statement,
NOT taking a knee is also.
Requiring someone to make the statement you want is just a little bit Unamerican.
As for
Respecting the veterans
I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me which veterans actually FOUGHT in a war that was protecting our Freedoms.
As rarely as I agree with bot, I do today.

I just don't subscribe to the
You SHOULD feel This
Think That
That the propagandists would have me think and feel.
And the questions remain unanswered.
IF taking a knee is a political statement
Isn't NOT taking a knee also?
And IF we're actually free, are we to accept being Told what statement we will make?
Rather than being offended, wouldn't you be ahead to think about it?

In the minds of 99.9% of the population up until last year, standing for the anthem was not necessarily a political statement. It was a communal acknowledgement of respect and gratitude for the nation. By kneeling, some turned it into a political protest. Which is fine, I don't think it's necessarily un-america to kneel. However, my opinion is the reasons these guys have given is ironic given these black men make hundreds of times the annual salaries of the average person under that same flag which in virtually every other nation, they'd be living in poverty, but whatever. Intelligence is not a requirement for playing football.

But when those same people now stand on Veterans Day, that is different because they choose to kneel another day. If I go to a game later this week and stand for the anthem as I normally do, I'm not making a political protest. Regardless, the NFL will never recover. It won't be the same ever again.

By the way, I refuse to put my hand over my heart during the anthem. My "heart and soul" are not pledged to America. It's the greatest nation this globe has ever produced and I would fight if called to defend her, but the idea of a hand over my heart is too symbolic for me to participate in.
Is that a protest on my part? Maybe.

I think if they just wandered around and ignored the anthem, it would be disrespectful,.. or if they did something rude... but taking a knee seems an honourable way to protest while still showing acknowledgement...
A well thought out way to protest...
People take a knee to pray, to propose, to honour, or give thanks... I can't think of any knee taking slight...

Again, I don't object to kneeling during the anthem as a sign of protest, but they've not articulated a valid argument for their protest. Second, not kneeling on Veterans Day is an admission that their selected method of protest was too broad. If NFL players wanted to make a protest that counted, that made a difference, they should sit out games until  'demands' are met.

But whatever, it's like BLM protest here in St Louis; useless and accomplished nothing. All it did (and the NFL too) is to galvanize the majority against them.

Some really good points .

And the NFL is probably permanently wounded, and that's fine.

The protests aren't about
The Players lives, they are protesting the mistreatment and murders by cops of the minorities.

If taking a knee disrespects
Not taking a knee is acknowledgement of
Respect
I'm Fine with it
Take a knee
And the
Hand over your heart thing?
Right, they can stuff that.

I have stated before, I am not against them kneeling......
But just be honest about it, it is a statement, and you use the anthem as an avenue to express yourself.

Personally, I am not offended by it, either way.....
I stand for respect, as I do when they play Oh Canada, etc.

I believe this is just an example of how civility has broken down to allow disrespect of others, while demanding it ourselves.

As a believer, I will once again use the wedding cake baker as example, regardless of legality of the issue.

He could have been thankful the couple choose him to bake the cake, for that is what he wants to do.
He could have made the cake, and blessed them with it.

He would have then been a better  example of God's love, who excepts all sinners as his children, like me......

His spirituality was never challenged, he chose to call it a threat, I think that is disingenuous.

If his desire was, as it should be, as a believer, to witness the Love of God, he failed, for purely personally reasons.

I think the players, because of their high profile, have become the focus, just like the baker, and the cause is lost in the shuffle.

As  WM said, “standing for the anthem was not necessarily a political statement’.  ‘It was a communal acknowledgement of respect and gratitude’.

I remember a player who gave his opinion when making a score, thanking a a Deity.
And the Press, just  SLAMMED him.
That was his ‘Opinion’, not a, ‘Political’, statement.
(However now, the ANTIFA  Ideals  Supporters, are working to make, that, ‘Political’)

Only after a football player, who couldn’t find his Azz with both hands,
           Knelt,
did people call it a, ‘Political’, statement.

But things do change. Take the word, ‘GAY’,
It used to mean a, ‘Happy’, person, now it means something else.
(And their are so many other words, that when written had one meaning, and now have another)

So, to, ‘Force’, a person, to have a, ‘certain’, Political Belief.
It is the same, as TT, giving  his/her, Political Belief, (which is perfectly all right).
Yet to say, over and over, and over again, again, again, the likes of:
    ‘If you do not believe what I Believe, you are a … … … … …

Same as a Religion, To, ‘Force,’ someone to believe in a certain, ‘religion’.
It not what this country was built on.
(Sure some religions, ’sell’, their religion)
Yet their is Only ONE, I can think of that says:
'You Will Believe, or I will KILL  you'

So here is a possible fix.
Before a game, if a player, wants to Stand with their hand over their heart,   Kneel,  Scratch their Butt, toss a ball around,  sit on a bench and talk,  stay in the locker room.
Let them.  It is their, ‘Choice’.

Their is a, Reaction, to what their, Actions are.

I, also have a, ‘Choice’, to Pay to see a ‘game’.
