Illegal aliens comprise about 7% of the population, yet they commit 22% of all federal murder convictions, 18% of fraud convictions, 33% of money-laundering convictions, 29% of drug-trafficking convictions and 72% of convictions for drug possession. -

 Illegal aliens.

Are people pushing for more illegal aliens or for immigration?  I haven't seen anyone state we need to have more illegal aliens allowed in.

Hard to say exactly what people want.

I'll tell you what they don't want and you can tell me what they must want based on that.

They don't want immigration law enforcement.
They don't want to be able to keep people who have no legal right to vote from voting.
They don't want to deport people who have no legal right to be here.

Like I said, I'D what they Want.

I'm surprised that the people who want open borders don't rip the doors off their houses and allow anyone who can get in to stay. They don't care what kinda person gets in America, whether they are skilled and healthy and an addition to society or syphilitic and lazy , but they believe that since those are
Immigrants
And since America was built on
Immigrants
They should all be treated as valuable and brought in.

Maybe you can clear this up..
You're at least scientific if you are nothing else, you're definitely scientific.
Usually they are reasonable.

I couldn't get the link to the government statistics to open.
Apparently there are people involved in some crimes that don't necessarily wear suits.
You might not be aware that our banks launder cartel money and the stock market is propped up by their money.
The cartels that don't play ballare subject to police action.
And the ones who do get guns..to play police with against the competition.
You guys don't read much.

I guess I'd want a clearer definition of "Open Borders" as this means too many things.

Does it mean no immigration checks at borders/ports and airlines?

Does it mean allowing people to come in legally under work/education status?

I don't know anyone and have not seen anything promoting full open borders with no enforcement so I assume open borders means legal immigration.

Definitely, without everyone using the same definitions, it's not possible to communicate.
Open borders, as I use it, is how things have been. We say we have rules, but are lax in their enforcement .  Some people want less enforcement, others want more.

Lax in enforcement.  In what capacity are you aware of?

I know fulfillment of staffing has been terrible, and there's limited holding facilities so many that could be prosecuted are just sent back.  I spent 4 months at a FLETC facility working with both CBP and ICE.  It was enlightening how many ground level things can't get done due to lack of infrastructure at the higher level.

There's literally not enough lawyers to handle the volume of cases for example.

I'm not going to try to educate anyone about the way things are. It's irritating that anyone can pretend that our borders have been properly defended this last forty years. The border patrol, until recently, has been losing people BECAUSE they have been stymied in doing their job by the upper people.

Look how many people go apeshitt when they hear about a deportation.

Employers are not that hard to find that use illegals.

Lawyers? Noncitizens don't Get lawyers.
If someone gets arrested and can't prove they are American, how is that?
All they gotta do is say where they grew up,
What are the odds that someone who looks like a Mexican and can't speak English and has nobody who lives in America that they grew up with is a citizen?
Design a situation where you can find a possibility that someone would be mistreated, and pretend that is reason to do nothing.

Where did you get your information indicating why CBP staff have been leaving?  How long is "recently"?  5 years?

When I indicated volume of lawyers I mean there are not enough lawyers to prosecute, not public defenders.  There aren't enough judges either, so we need to have modifications to current law where due process is modified or removed if citizenship is not proved.

I've been paying attention to it for many years. I've talked to people. I lived in Odessa Texas, and if you can't get decent Mexican food where you are, plan a trip to Odessa.

The staffing problem involves man hours and staff numbers.

Legally a judge or prosecuting attorney can not work more than 16 hours per day.  There's more case hours than available hours per person to prosecute all crimes committed by illegal immigrants.  Last data I witnessed is just over 300 to 1.  300 crimes committed by illegal immigrants for every 1 person that can work the case.

Doubling work hours would reduce that number to 150 to 1, and that's every single judge and lawyer nation wide working 16 hours a day 7 days a week.  Or they let some go, which is why we see multiple DUI's etc.

I still have to read through all the references you provided and see what's out there providing data on the numbers of CBP staff leaving.  I can't get the exact numbers from DC until Jan 20th.
