Trip, those Too Big to Fail things are Now bigger. We would have been Way ahead to have paid off the mortgages instead of giving the banks
Billions on billions.
Is it actually a
Monopoly if it's a half dozen or so businesses?
AT&T was a monopoly.
Regardless of the word that describes the situation, it's bad.
After Glass Steagall was thrown out, things went to crap.

Hey Jog, isn’t this energy to give the president more power a recent development when considered what the founders intended by writing in the separation?

I really don't know, Ray.
It's been such a long slide.
I remember the eighties and the savings and loan Bush ripoff. Wasn't that why Glass Steagall was passed?

If you're saying that the separation of powers that were originally intended have had their lines blurred and power shuffled into places that weren't the goals of the Founders, I can only agree.
How it's all been done, down through the years, IDK. Seems like the judicial branch has taken steps Not allowed them by the constitution.
They find constitutionality where none exists for the administration they agree with, and rule against the one they disagree with, regardless of precedent or constitutionality.
The judicial branch concerns me, the administrative, with that GodAwful executive order power.
Like any other tool, it can be misused.
Trump should have a team reading them and reversing the unconstitutional ones that exert pressure on the People.
It Really torques me up watching the legislative write unconstitutional bills.
Every piece of legislation should have the part of the constitution listed where the right and power to enact the proposed legislation is laid out.

I agree in total.

I believe they foresaw how religion could leak into a factor of power that would in fact, unsurp the very safeguard of ensuring a faction could not control society.
I believe the same reasoning went into the 3 branch idea.

If you go back to the debating prior to the formation of the final decree of what, and how, this power would be divided, the argument almost stopped dead in its track, at reaching a consensus, as many wanted s centralized power.....
One guy, I forget who, he had argued against giving a body, the House of Representatives, any equal footing, based on population, etc...
But changed his mind upon final vote.

I believe fights even broke out over this issue.
So, in effect, this idea is nothing new, but if we succumbed to breaching the original intent, it will get ugly once again.

It’s not about our sovereignty or welfare, it’s all about power hungry folks!

They didn't ban religion.
They had just left a tyranny.
They gave us freedom.
People are free to express their beliefs,
Anywhere
Anytime

No, you are right, they did not ban religion, I am not saying that.
What I am saying is that a “belief” has the power to become unconstrained, as it grows....
You must keep in mind, it’s a “belief”, a faith based belief.
And if the state was to sanction it, then it would be more of a law, and biased against all other forms of, as well as absents of, a certain religion....
And in reality it would go against the very foundation of my religion,of choosing on my own free will, to believe.
The world is ripe with parents forcing their children into a religion.
It really doesn’t work very well.

I've met preachers kids when I was about six. They were both into sex. Ohhh, and they were about the same age.
I think I follow you,
Take an ideology, pass laws that support it, and Violas, almost a religion..
Just send your tithe to Planned Parenthood.

Exactly.....ANY belief, will always be presented as a good and caring thing, idea.

That it has "merit"......and that is why we should support it, state sanctioned, even....

But look, if it truly has merit, it will support and sustain itself, should it not?

The Crusaders is a good example, these folks "believed" they were saving people from their own peril......

This is why we need less goverment intervention in social engineering, and promotion, of ANY chosen life styles that are belief based on ideas, etc....

Lets say Gay marriage, that is a choice for two people to do.
They have every right to get married, i believe, but they do not have a right to "force" other people who have opposing beliefs to participate.

Now take a interracial marriage, their skin is a fact, not a choice.
I think its rather obvious that to deny them based on "race" does cross that fine line were the goverment "has" to intervene with laws against such discrimination.

Does that make any sense?

It's not complicated.
Government has no business in marriage.

Are you suggesting that people who do not believe in God should not be allowed to be married?  This seems to be saying that marriage is the bond between two people (or more) but only if accepted by their church?
If their church says marriage is between one man and three women, would that be acceptable?  If the man was not a virgin, and the church refused to "marry" them, thus would be okay?  Or, as more often in our male dominated churches, if the woman wasn't a virgin?   What if the Bhuddist temple says a pairing is a marriage, but it isn't acceptable to the First Methodist Church..would it be unacceptable then?
I guess you would have to start at the beginning.  Define what you think a marriage is.  Is it a legal contract, a tax standard, a social status???

What is a Marriage Covenant - Covenant Marriage …
covenantmarriage.com/what-is-a-marriage-covenant
A covenant is intended by God to be a lifelong fruitful relationship between a man and a woman. Marriage is a vow to God, to each other, our families and our community to remain steadfast in unconditional love, reconciliation and sexual purity, while purposefully growing in our covenant marriage relationship.
