I have listened a lot to the man, and he has always struck me as a genuine guy, not full of himself, and of sound economic theory.
Yes, we are in a time of extremes, fast paced change, etc, because of Trump, as well as other mitigating issues globally. The "one world economy" is for real, and it is going no where, regardless of Trumps threats. His name calling of "rocket-man" might of had an effect, on what "might" come, of this opportunity at dialogue, maybe, but it will not work on threats to our global trading partners.
Do we need stronger assurances of copy writes and intellectual properties, darn straight we do.... However, it will come through technological advances and safeguards, not saber rattling. Tariffs, etc, yes, as the manufacturing of other nations become more "level" to ours, we should ensure we keep the playing field that we "helped" developed, level for us as well, and sanctioning can be a tool to keep over zealous nations from unfair advantages in a open market.
But Trump needs to really dial back his rhetoric, can he? I have no reason to believe he can, none.
And because of that, I think Larry will be gone before his badge is changed from a visitor, to permanent, status, at the White House.
Here is a good read Larry co-authored a book — JFK and the Reagan Revolution: A Secret History of American Prosperity — that chronicles how President John Kennedy’s historic, growth-igniting tax cuts came into being. The result was one of history’s greatest economic booms.
