Snowflakes in July......
07/03/18 at 08:40:49

“I never thought I would see McCarthyism come to Martha’s Vineyard, but I have. I wonder if the professor who refuses to listen to anything I have to say also treats his students similarly,” he continued. “Would he listen to a student who actively supported Trump? What about one who simply supported his civil liberties?”

This man, Alan Dershowitz,  has been as consistent in his views and beliefs than just about anyone, yet......  Huh

Apparently Martha’s Vineyard is a safe space.

Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz said last week that his defense of President Donald Trump’s constitutional rights led to him being “shunned” by his own friends at a high-end seasonal destination.

The famed lawyer lamented the efforts to eject him from his social life at Martha’s Vineyard amid his outspoken criticism of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the alleged collusion with Russia.

"So they are shunning me and trying to ban me from their social life on Martha’s Vineyard.”

In an op-ed for The Hill, Dershowitz, a frequent guest on Fox News, said that though he’s politically a liberal Democrat who voted for Hillary Clinton in addition to contributing “handsomely” to her campaign, his defense of civil liberties that could benefit Trump is too much to swallow for his social circle.

“But that is not good enough for some of my old friends on Martha’s Vineyard. For them, it is enough that what I have said about the Constitution might help Trump. So they are shunning me and trying to ban me from their social life on Martha’s Vineyard."

“One of them, an academic at a distinguished university, has told people that he would not attend any dinner or party to which I was invited. He and others have demanded ‘trigger warnings’ so that they can be assured of having 'safe spaces' in which they will not encounter me or my ideas. Others have said they will discontinue contributions to organizations that sponsor my talks,” he added.

Dershowitz went on to compare his situation with McCarthyism in the 1950s, when many innocent people were perceived as being sympathetic to communist ideas and were subjected to job firings and blacklists.

“I never thought I would see McCarthyism come to Martha’s Vineyard, but I have. I wonder if the professor who refuses to listen to anything I have to say also treats his students similarly."

Yet, Dershowitz remains defiant amid the efforts to ostracize him from public life. “I will not change my views as a result of these attempts to ostracize me, but there are some who may remain silent for fear of being shunned,” he wrote.

“Silence is not my style. Cowardice is not my philosophy. I intend to speak up when I disagree with Republicans, and I intend to speak up when I disagree with Democrats. Right now I am speaking up in disagreement with Maxine Waters. She — like those who shun me on Martha’s Vineyard — is part of the problem rather than the solution,” he added.

Consequences of a polarized society and the fact that the side that lost the election can't peacefully accept that Their Queen was shunned and the People chose a change of direction.

Please file that away deep into your consciousness....
We will revisit that soon, as it will bring with it, consequences.

You spoke, as you shall hear your own words, or deny them, which either, will prove your own worth.

Somebody needs to tell Dershie that being defriended from his Martha's Vineyard social circle is different than having your entire career destroyed.
What a snowflake...

Interesting.
A person will read, comprehending nothing, only looking to find what they want....
Not sure if that would fall under the category of intellect 🤔

Here, let me spell it out for you, SO.....
When you do it again you MIGHT have a learning experience, with YOU reaping the benefits.

Look at your first remark.
Look how those you embrace, as superior, invented PC doctrine to circumvent free speech to ALL.....
But you got the muppet calling it good when it comes to Allen D.....
A prime example of the hypocrisy, oblivious, or in denial, to him.

As I have stated many, many times before, and now you have admitted such, free speech has consequences and Trump is the consequences of the liberals disengenous attempt at stifling it.

Now punkin, how is that a threat?
Perhaps in the sense that real free speech extended to everyone, even a orange haired small handed buffoon is intitled to, or, maybe you want to shut him up like all the others who “trump” free speech, but don’t.,..

Hint: look inward to find the real answer, not on a silly message board.

you're reading A LOT into what I'm say....

"Look how those you embrace, as superior, invented PC doctrine to circumvent free speech to ALL....."

where did I do that?

the point of my comment is, if you speak out politically, or just generally about anything, people have the right to react how they want, as long as they don't commit violence against that person speaking out. This means, they can shun you.   This goes both ways from all sides.

that's all I meant.

no muppets involved

I will type more clearly for you since you seem to have a tendency to read a TON into what I said

and as for the "threat assessment" from me

you direct me to do something : "Please file that away deep into your consciousness...."

Then you say you and I will take an action "We will revisit that soon,"

and that action will have  "consequences."

You didn't define what those "consequences" were, and we've been uncivil (yes, that includes me) towards each other here, so, so I asked, wondering what you meant

anyway, I'm sure you still think I'm "evil or stupid" or whatever, have at it. enjoy

I have inner conflict about a lot of things, which color is better, yellow or black, where should I best spend my money, what action now will lead to the better future....

but I'm pretty sure I don't want to drink whatever "water" you're offering

and you know what I don't need to prove anything to you, so ceis la vie

an actual reply to the original post:

Is Alan Dershowitz really a victim of Martha’s Vineyard McCarthyism?Last week, the famed lawyer complained in a column in The Hill that he is being ostracized by fellow residents of the tony summer colony Martha’s Vineyard as a result of his vociferous claims that President Donald Trump is the victim of a legal witch hunt. According to Dershowitz some of his “old friends” are “shunning me and trying to ban me from their social life on Martha’s Vineyard. One of them, an academic at a distinguished university, has told people that he would not attend any dinner or party to which I was invited.” Dershowitz’s goes on to compare his ostracism to McCarthyism, the government sponsored anti-communist purge that saw thousands of alleged communists to lose their careers in the early 1950s.
Dershowitz’s persecution complex seems overheated especially if we remember a 2003 New York magazine article that described the law professor’s social life at Martha Vineyard. The article notes that favorite Dershowitz guests included Larry and Laurie David, William Styron, and Harvey Weinstein. The David’s are now divorced. William Styron is dead. And Harvey Weinstein, now facing criminal charges for alleged rape, is a social pariah for perfectly good reasons.

When he was a social lion at Martha’s Vineyard, Dershowitz didn’t mind shunning other people. “I rarely invite my academic colleagues,” Dershowitz told New York. “Most of them don’t make good dinner guests.” Now the very people Dershowitz gave the high hat to are returning the favor.
