Pure communism and pure socialism doesn't work, no. But neither does pure capitalism.

But as it relates to the US, democratic-socialism works just fine. I like my cops, firemen, schools, roads, water, Medicare and the like just fine.

What I would not like is if the government ran the car companies, or the steel mills, or any type of manufacturing. (that's what socialism allows)

I also wouldn't want them telling me who to worship or appointing leaders as they see fit.

I like it that people can protest. I like that we can demand separation of church and state (in support of the Constitution).
