Wait....... all this is about not telling a reporter the details of a private and confidential meeting?!!!!!! Seriously? That's it?

That's not enough??

No! Are you under the impression politicians don't withhold information from reporters?

No, in fact, I'm basing my assumptions on that very fact.

And are you saying withholding that information is lying? And that 'lie' is actionable in a court of law?

I'm saying this - what was or was not said in that meeting will never be known.  The only thing we have to go on that has any rigidity is the email exchange between gladstone and jr.  it had less that noble intentions and was kept secret.

jr could have said they talked about how great hillary was - we simply have no clue.

Suffice it to say, there's probably a good reason why it was disguised as a meeting about adoption.

How can you say nobody lied when there is no way the public will ever know what was discussed in that meeting?

The only thing we have to go on that is concrete is the email exchange.  What was said or not said is impossible to prove.

You're only fooling yourself here mark.

There's probably a good reason they covered it up in the first place.

How do you know what anyone spoke about in a private meeting?
Seriously, you've judged him guilty because you don't like his father. You have nothing to go on. In fact, what you have to go one, his testimony to the congressional investigators, you are totally ignoring.

I don't - and neither do you.  That's the point.

No, we do have something to go on.  The original email that was sent to jr.  You even said yourself that had this been hillary, the GOPers would have gone nuts.

In fact, what you have to go one, his testimony to the congressional investigators, you are totally ignoring.

No, again, it's not about his testimony.  He could be lying, he could be telling the truth.  The only rock-solid piece of this whole thing is the email exchange between him and gladstone.

It shows intent.  Nothing more, nothing less.

Got dirt?

Gee, wasn’t that the purpose of the Dossier from Steele?

Yes, it was.  But it was executed via a third party and not covered up/lied about.  hillary was working above board.  the trumpsters weren't.

Huge difference ray.

If it was so above ground then why disguise the payments as legal services?

It wasn't. It was called opposition research and the clinton campaign hired Marc Elias for it. In April 2016, Elias hired Fusion GPS to perform opposition research on trump.

It's a convoluted story for sure.  But suffice it to say, one was out in public, the other (trump) was being done in secret.

That remains to be seen.  Is collusion legal?

And again, not to beat a dead horse - but if this were a dem, you think there'd be no outrage?

Collusion has a legal definition that I would think varies according to the circumstance.

I had a job once for a non-profit credit organization. Industry groups (truck rental companies, furniture rentals, tux rental industries for example) would  get together and share information on business scams they were seeing, new current credit card scams, and even specific individual names and/or company names who had ripped them off. The idea is if some crook figures out how to steal money using fake names, that info is passed along to the group so they know what to watch for.

Now, since everyone in the group is in the same industry, the temptation to 'collude' in various ways is always present. Price fixing, directing the market in one direction etc...My role in those meetings was to remind everyone in the beginning about the specific anti-trust regulations in effect at the time. This is going back a long time, but you may recall price fixing charges brought against ADM...

My job was to attend these meetings, observe and listen. They were mostly at lunch so I got a lot of great free food!

The point is collusion, in and of itself, is not illegal. At these meetings, companies could 'collude' in the sense they spoke in detail about their experiences collecting past due money and developed procedures they all put into effect in order to reduce fraud within the industry.

So no, collusion in and of itself, is not illegal.

And again, not to beat a dead horse - but if this were a dem, you think there'd be no outrage?  And you wouldn't be saying a word.

Oh and by the way, I don't think you can charge the President with obstruction and I'm not sure if you charge him with collusion.

The story about no man being above the law isn't necessarily true. The President is. He can't be charged with crimes you and I could be. He can however be impeached. That's the remedy.

I guess we'll never know.
But you'll never see me defending hillary either.  So there's that.

And if the midterms go they way they seem to be - it's very likely that he'll be impeached.  That or he'll resign.

It like the summer of '74 when the party started to turn on nixon.  They saw the coming bloodbath of the midterms and wanted him gone.

Versy, it was no conflict, look:

Investigators are also probing Ohr’s relationship with Simpson. Ohr’s wife Nellie worked at Fusion as a Russian specialist and did research that formed part of the dossier. Government officials are not allowed to take actions in their official capacity that financially benefit family members, and Nellie was understood to be receiving significant income from Fusion GPS.

Liars?  That remains to be seen. But at least she didn't do it in secret.  She at least followed a traceable protocol.
