Many would consider that a smart move.

are the same that never said one word about:

 We have to remember that if we can point to someone else's wrongdoing, even if its in another decade, then it makes what is being done now just a little more ok to do.

 Nobody paid protesters and stood up when Caligula started his barbaric activities in Rome, so why care about what the President does today, just roll with it.

 Since my grandparents didn't say anything about a President's activities decades before I was born I don't have a right to be critical of a President today.

 In the way that its used in this forum, yes.  All crimes seem to be  considered equal as they have been presented so far.

 I didn't say that it was bad idea, someone else did.  

 I am saying that using a different person's action in a different decade to say that its good to do today makes little sense to me.  What my grandparents failed to do about Kennedy has very little influence on how I assess the activities of politicians today.
