I remember years ago, listening to Rush, he stated that GW would be the new religion of the left.
Like zealous Christians, standing on a street corner, with signs, bullhorn, and flinging accusations at passersby, acting much like those leftist who march our streets destroying property, physically encountering anyone who would challenge them, etc....
They claim DEATH, HELL, darnATION,unless you repent and change your ways....

This is the GW'ing arguments of these zealots who put all their stock on a belief that can not be proven, much like MY FAITH, in God.....
That can not be proven to those who just don't want to believe by faith....

How do you mean it (GW) can't be proven ray?  Do you know how they measure the temperature historically (before actual record keeping)? It can be easily proven that the temperature change from the 1850's to today is the highest rate that's been measured over the last 10,000 years or so.

It's like - how we know what Jupiter's atmosphere is composed of.  Do you think anyone's ever been to Jupiter?  No, of course not.  Scientific research.

Faith is not science.  The two are mutually exclusive.

I get it, these folks believe all is doomed unless we all adopt their beliefs,  etc....

Again, it's not about adopting a belief.  It's science fact.  It doesn't care if you believe.

Like the Christian on the corner, they think THEIR actions are just, and of a saving nature, to those IGNORANT to the TRUTH.

Faith is not a fact.  You can have faith to carry you through tough times, but the facts don't change.  You can choose not to believe that the world is round.  That doesn't make it flat.

You guys carry on, but you might as well just beat your head against the wall, if you think any of this activity will change anything  Grin

Actually, it already has.  Many countries are actively doing something about it.

You should look at the interwebs a little closer ray.

You are metaphorically preaching hell and brimstone from a street corner!
Are you suggesting this hurricane is de facto evidence of man-made global warming?

Once again, you assume too much - but you're free to have an opinion.

I think I hit pretty close to home.

I (and these folks) beg to differ:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2018/03/great-pacific-garbage-patch-plasti...

I don’t think you read that article very well. If you’re gonna call that a plastic island 3x the size of France, well then I understand your support for clowns like Booker and Harris.

Well mark, I did read it - that's why I posted it.  It's undetermined how big it actually is, but suffice it to say, 3x the size of France is not ruled out.

1.8 Trillion pieces of plastic.  Most of the tonnage is from fishing nets.  The size is difficult, if not impossible to measure because of the sheer size.

The study included two aerial surveys in October of 2016 that took 7,000 images, and 652 ocean surface trawls conducted in July, August, and September of 2015 by 18 vessels.

What that means is - it ain't tiny.

Maybe, maybe not. But you’re certainly not in the science or engineering field.

If you say so mark.  But you might be wrong.

But quite honestly, it makes no difference what field I'm in - or you're in.

The data speaks for itself.  These numbers aren't just made up.  There is no "end game".  The rate of change is what it is, and we humans are responsible for it.

If you want to debate what this will actually mean for the planet, fine.  But it's happening whether you believe in it or not.

I know of at least one other patch in the south pacific, but I would not rule out more locations.

I think it far better to collect this stuff now rather than wait for the patch to get large enough to just scoop it up off the beach.

The POINT IS

All the hysteria about co2 is baseless.
It's CREATING vegetation, which is also food crops, and vegetation
Cools the environment.
And vegetation USES co2.

So,
Run in circles and scream about co2.
Which is PUMPED INTO hothouses, because the plants need it.

It's SO MUCH HOTTER NOW
We can't grow grapes as far north as during the warm period.

Wow, so Venus is a myth?  It's not CO2?

What part of greenhouse gas don't you understand?  Carbon dioxide is the most significant long-lived greenhouse gas in Earth's atmosphere.

Yeah, it's a GREENHOUSE GAS and great if we all lived in a greenhouse and were plant based.

It's SO MUCH HOTTER NOW
We can't grow grapes as far north as during the warm period.

RATE OF CHANGE - three words, that's all - just three.  This is the crux of the problem.

Why are the current temperatures less than predicted?
And if they missed these predictions so badly, why should I put my faith in them for future predictions? Why should we invest so heavily in a prediction that may have to many variables to make accurate predictions possible?

I think your data's out of date mark-

It's not solely a prediction.  Think about it - If you're headed for a brick wall doing 90 mph and you have no brakes, based on the rate you're going, and the density of brick and your inertia - you can accurately predict what's going to happen if you don't turn away from said wall.  Further, at some point, turning becomes pointless because you're too close to avoid the inevitable.
