Trouble is, the migrants were offered asylum by Mexico and they refused it, declaring, instead, that the U.S. was the target according to the Daily Caller:

Thousands of migrants turned down Mexico’s President Enrique Pena Nieto’s program You Are In Your Home, The Associated Press reported Saturday.

The program gives refugee status to those who apply and provide migrants access to shelter, medical attention, schooling and temporary employment opportunities to Central American migrants in the Chiapas and Oaxaca states, according to The AP.

“Our goal is not to remain in Mexico,” Oscar Sosa, 58, of Honduras told The AP. “Our goal is to make it to the (U.S).”

Those of working age would clean, repair and maintain infrastructure in the two southern Mexican states, according to the program. Migrants can also obtain Mexico’s version of a social security number called CURP (Clave Unica de Registro Publico). This will allow the migrants to have legal proof of identity, enter and leave shelters and open bank accounts.

So the caravan isn’t seeking asylum. If they were, then they would be happy to escape the place they’re running from and achieving a better life in a different country. Mexico is straight-up offering them what they want, and yet they chose instead to ignore their supposed goal in order to continue north.

Running from the oppression of being targeted for your political or religious beliefs and being offered safe haven and medical care and opportunities , a new start, only to decline?
And how many of them were carrying the Flag of the country that was so terrible to them? Why would anyone Do that? Why wouldn't the others grab it and burn it?
If YOU'RE running from a horror, and all you really want is to be allowed to live in peace and work and provide for your family, the offer Mexico made looks good. Thousands accepted.
I guess the best of the best pressed on to America, where they will fit in, no language barriers, blah blah blah

Getting lefties to understand the legal impossibility of Asking for asylum AFTER being OFFERED asylum by another country is an exercise in foolishness.
