Ohhh, that it's probably not a great idea to build an effigy of a dead guy and leave it on the bed of his parents.

I Agree, their are some culture's that a effigy of a loved one,
at the appropriate time, is considered a good thing.
However, in this case, I believe it is, 'tt' syndrome, that affected the hotel staff.
As they believed, everyone, thinks just like they do !

Day of the Dead isn't typically going to have tears coming off the face and a beer in his hand, and isn't usually celebrated in late Nov. but who knows.

Looks like a cultural mis translation - A's for effort though. Sorta of like when a cannibal invites you to lunch.
