Hey Matchless, If you dig through Dave's posts, you'll see his documentation of the problems in the sprocket carrier. Basically, after a bunch of miles, the carrier develops play (wobble). Dave came up with one solution involving machining the carrier, and installing a shim/bushing. DragBikeMike came up with another solution involving using a double row bearing. To use the wider bearing, the left side spacer must be machined. So, these spacers are for the bikes using the wider bearing. Doesn't matter if you are running a belt or chain. Make sense?
