Left Turn from the Right Lane ...  I'd say that van driver will be paying for that foolish move for the rest of their life.    If the biker lives or not .  

That van driver could have turned Right then did a "U-Turn"  to correct their confusion in directions.    So now they have killed or crippled  somebody ...  that could have been any of us !    

So , now , What do you do if somebody makes a left turn in front of ya like that ?   Can ya stop in time ?  Can ya avoid hitting them by swerving to the right behind them ?  ...  What can ya do ?    

Lotta stored kinetic energy in all that cast iron.
