Probably a lot of merit to that statement.  When I was at the university I had one class where I sat next to a girl from China.  She had nothing good to say and it even seemed like she was afraid to say anything negative let alone critical of the state.

Web.....I kinda have a different take on the effects of this.

Setting aside the virus,as I too believe it will fade away, just like every other one. Less people will die from this than from socialism  

What concerns me is that the BIG WEALTH folks can readily manipulate the market by capitalizing on these rumors and scare tactics.

They see opportunity, pull money, let if fall more, get the small players to sell off, then they go buy CHEAP.....again.

I am not sure how you could even stop it, our regulate it, as with any controls, it often winds up to more damage than good.

One other thing to consider, I do not think for a second, the wealthy are very happy about the threat of Bernie. He is running a classic campaign of a socialist who attacks the wealthy, as cause of those who have less, setting up a confrontation as the only means to resolution....

This really has to concern them, living their lives of wealth, they will be targets of the revolution armies, both organized, and rogue.

Consider this possibility....  

Nothing gets the attention better than comfortable folks getting a good scare, shaking them back into a sense of awareness, making them get off the rump and become pro active in maintaining and promoting those things that are good, and being thankful for it, etc....

A major drop, downturn in the market gets their attention quickly....a state of hyper awareness of what is going on, motivates them into action.
And as the election nears ( too far out right now to keep a sustainable energy going ) they bring the market back up on flooding it with cash/buying....and credit Trump for it.

Do you see how absolutely powerful that would be in driving out voters......???
The democrats would be impotent, could not raise a challenge at all, and the house goes back with certainty, to the republicans, the senate might get veto proof (?) numbers elected...(not sure if that is attainable).

The courts would be filled with less active judges, perhaps 2 more appointees in the SC.

And this assault on wealth, business, etc, is stymied BIG TIME.
