Guilty as charged. My bike is a 09 with 12k miles. I have rebuilt mine twice. Second time probably didn't need it but I did it to eliminate that while diagnosing other things. The kit is $20 and it is an easy job, just have to drain the tank completely.  For the last several years I have been pretty religious about running nonethanol whenever possible and it is doing well. Even after sitting up for 5 months it recently cranked and ran perfectly.

I am nontraditional, but I also keep the spare kit and tools with me in case I am stranded in a desert somewhere.
