It can't happen soon enough for me. The neighbors all seem to store there equipment too long with fuel in it, and they bring it to me to fix it.

I am run all my mowers and chain saws out of fuel when I am not going to be using them anymore that year - and the motorcycles with carbs get drained and the motorcycles with fuel injection get ethanol free gas and stabilizer. The only place around here you can get gasoline without ethanol is at the boat marinas. I try to convince the neighbors to do the same thing - most don't bother.

Here is a float bowl from a Honda CRF100R that was not ridden for 3 years and sat in a pole barn - I just cleaned this 2 days ago.

The bowl is clean as you can see by the shiny aluminum - but the dull parts have been corroded by the ethanol and are etched. I scrubbed really well and there are no loose bits - it is just etched/corroded/stained.

Here is the top of the cleaned carb body showing the corrosion caused by the ethanol. The corroded aluminum parts just won't clean up.

I have no problem using E10 fuel in equipment that is used regularly, especially when it is made to work with E10 fuel and is resistant to damage caused by ethanol. However any equipment that is not used enough to keep the fuel fresh should either be drained - or used ethanol free fuel with a stabilizer.

I would like to be able to buy ethanol free at a filling station - carrying my 5 gallon jugs from the parking lot out to the marina dock and back again is a chore - the parking lots are generally pretty far away from the fuel pumps that are always way out on the dock!

In anycase, im stored my bike whit that fuking new metanol/ethanol fuel and have the intentions to start it every months, in the winter, it didnt happend.
In any case then I put it out on easter anyhow and started it, and it get going att the first start. But my exhaust get first yellow and som parts get blue!
I dont realy care if the exhaust got any color at all, but on this sort of bike, (im got an Leo Vince exhaust slip on to it) its supose to going whitot any modifications.
In any case, I talk to some biker friends, they told my about getting fuel stabilisation in the tank.. or rather drain the tank and put some alkylat petrol in it for storage and in the carburator?
Im not that fond of to drain my caburator anyhow.. it seems to be a menace anyhow.

I have been cleaning carbs since I worked in a lawn mower shop when I was a senior in high school (1974) - folks would bring in equipment that had been sitting with fuel in it, and the carbs would need to be cleaned to get them going again. Old fuel would cause carbs to "gum up" - while new E10 fuel causes corrosion.

The kind of damage/corrosion that the ethanol fuel causes most likely can't be cleaned up with additives once it occurs - disassembly and cleaning by hand is the only solution. In the old days when fuel went bad it would leave behind a sticky brown varnish - maybe the fuel additives like SeaFoam could do something to help remove that....the problem with the new fuel is that ethanol is corrosive to aluminum and no chemical additive can resolve that after it has happened.

Exhaust coloring is sometimes related to fuel mixture - but also can be affected by running your bike without moving. Starting your bike and letting it idle for extended periods, riding in town or in heavy traffic where there are lots of starts/stops and traffic lights can also cause the pipe to color as there is no air blowing over the pipe to help it stay cooler.

I hope not. Oklahoma does not restrict it. The 2 closest towns to the house each have one station that sells nothing but real gas. It costs more but I’m not sure why, unless because of a lower production rate now days. I have 12 5&6 gal containers that I fill up each year with stabilizer added at home.

I am not sure if it is "law" - but you cannot buy ethanol free fuel at any gas station anywhere in my county. Puregas.org does show some places where you can buy ethanol free fuel - but none are anywhere near me. If I want pure gas, I have to go to a marina.
