Motorcycle parts shortage........
05/22/20 at 03:17:08

It appears the Covid19 pandemic has affected delivery of parts.

I ordered some fork protectors for the Savage.....those little black plastic deflectors that go on top of the fork sliders to protect the tubes, and I ordered them on March 31st.....the web site shows "Ships if 2-3 days".  The order is still "in progress", and they have not been shipped even though it has been nearly 2 months!

So I decided to install some fork boots, and I looked around for a good pair.  The best looking set I found were in the UK and I ordered them on Apr. 23 with delivery scheduled for May1 - 15.....they are still not here yet.  The tracking shows they should have arrived on Friday, May 15th - but doesn't show where they really are or provide an update on delivery.

And just for kicks.....I saw a really cheap set of fork boots from China for $11.19 including shipping.  I ordered them as well, and they may never get here!  The arrival is scheduled between May 6 to June 1.  The tracking may not be all that accurate - but it shows them as shipped but doesn't even show them as having left China yet.

My Savage has had the forks apart since March....and I can't get the parts I need to put them back together and go riding.  Thankfully I have another bike to ride and I have not been wasting good weather.

I just wanted to make you all aware that the supply of parts may be somewhat unreliable at the moment........hopefully you don't need anything that needs to come from outside the US!

Currently if you need something from the parts or service department at our local shops - you call them on the phone and tell them what you need, and they will bring it to the door and sell it to you.....you are not allowed in the shop.  The sales department is often "by appointment".

I've been receiving stuff with only small delays. 1 from china and 1 from CA both showed up pretty much in the window expected.
Cool.

Receiving ordered parts has been pretty decent for me so far but there have been delays, most not too bad but a few have taken 20 days or more from order to receipt.  Fortunately nothing critical to date.

Bought a 'floor model' cheap guitar from my local music shop. Met the guy at the door with payment, guitar was shoved through the door in a garbage bag! Sheesh!
Cheers!  Cool

Ok it’s the last day of spring and last week end I finally got my first spring ride on the street. I looked at my dusty as$ sportster , air the tires and gave it a bath, put the key in and to my surprise that lithium battery cranked like it was just charged, its been at least 7 months. Fired it off and away we went to go terrorize the down town area. What fun setting off car alarms , thing runs like a striped as$ ape , barks the rear tire from 1st to 2nd feather the clutch tug the bars , big fun doing a wheelie on Main St on a freakin sporty. No sooner did the front wheel touches down here comes LEO straight at me , pull in the clutch fumble for neutral push the kill switch while he rolls by giving me the evil eye. He takes off lookin for a loud bike drop it in gear dump the clutch and head home. It never pays pushing your luck with Johnny Law !

I believe those  gas pistons are sourced from the planet Mercury instead.

I do believe that gas pistons come from one of the gas planets........Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.  Those planets are the farthest from the sun, and they have many moons.

Therefore it does take "many moons" for deliveries from any one of those 4 planets.

Lets also not forget that which side of the sun the sourcing planet is vs the earth at time of order makes a pretty big difference in delivery time as well.

I dont have a cell phone,, but they said they sent me text messages and I shouldnt feel like they werent communicating with me,, so, maybe your creatures have infiltrated them in Houston,
