A very good talk about our bike.
Its the bike that Harley should have done as a first bike for beginners!
And I have some complains too, they should put the spedometer above the headlamp!
And later get rid of the carburator and put in a injection system.. for exhauste control.. but mostly for better performance and handling.

I agree, Harley really missed out on recruiting new riders to their brand by not offering their own version of the Savage. The Buell Blast was a toad! If they'd built a savage style chassis for this engine, I bet they would've sold quite a few, provided they didn't overprice them too badly.

The speedometer is easy. It can even be done with all Suzuki parts. An Intruder speedometer is simple to mount on the fork crown, but you will need to use the tall risers for drag bars to clear the dash light cluster. The stock cable is too short to reach but the tach cable for a 70's GT750 is the right length for the speedometer cable. And you get a trip odometer a a bonus with that swap.

I came up with that idea because I didn't like looking down at the tank to see the speedometer, and to mess with dealerships. Intruders have a neutral light, high beam, oil pressure, and one turn indicator in the dash cluster. I made new lenses so it has two turn indicators and rewired it to have the standard Savage indicators so it looks like it came that way from the factory.

The bars block the dash lights in this picture because I just slid it into place to test the wiring and it moved.
