Yeah, he's good and he has a trailer that is able to help out with the corners. The route is only slightly terrifying. The close quarters are bad enough, but the scary part that I thought I was seeing was the hard drop off right by the edge of the road squeezing by the homes. All that weight crushing down and the driver hoping Today, This load, isn't the day the world falls apart and that front tire doesn't find itself with nothing holding it up.
With the GoPro cameras and the technology available, I don't understand why a guy wouldn't want a camera showing him Exactly where the front tire is and keep eyes on how it is going at the corners of the truck. And yeah, I've had to learn how to operate trucks and pull trailers. And NO, it's NOT fun WHILE you're in a pickle. Once you get out of a bind, the world is a beautiful place! I don't Remember the last time I drove that 18 wheeler back to the shop on the last day I was employed by the plugging and abandoning company, but if that was The Last Time I ever shift the gears on a big truck, I'm Good with that.
The equipment was old, five speed Mack tractors. Dash lights, no workee, tach? Are you kidding? So the oil pressure gauge became my approximate tach. The maglite in my mouth let me watch the gauge and help with shifting. Good Grief, the things a man will do to keep beans on the table for his family. And I Loved the Job.
