Although I don't want to sound like that Joy lady on the view who complained that she can't go to Italy soon because of the current war.......the timing of these gas prices stinks!

I am retiring in 3.5 months and I have been planning on taking lots of trips.  Moab, Monument Valley, Colorado, Glacier National Park, etc.  The gas prices go up just as I am about to be out of work!

I feel ya, Dave. I'm about 2 years behind you as far as retirement plans go and all this is stressing me out.

And I agree with JOG and pg, gas prices will continue to go up and whenever they do come down, it won't be to the prices we had a year and a half ago. Angry

Ya'll remember VP Harris on the campaign trail wanted to do away with gas powered cars.

So , I knew there would be an excuse for increased gas prices show up ... Her and her kind must think this war is a "God-Sent".   Roll Eyes

If I ever buy another car it will be a Hybrid that get 50mpg (or more).

All for what? Why? If you still believe in your SUV destroying earth, well, what's left to say?
And, without OIL,where do you get Plastic? Petroleum products are all through our lives! Eliminate THAT,
Explain WHY you are right.
Rather than sneering at the poor dummies who just don't get it.

Yeah, I'm waiting for an explanation from the same people who were still jumping up and down about the Rona, and POOF! Just like That..
No more..
And it doesn't teach you anything.

When are you guys going to stop being dupes? America could be So much more, but not while destroying the things that built America is your goal.

Wow   That  Cool  JOG

I guess I'm just so "Cheep" that I  want to get the "Most for my Gas Dollar" ,!

But ,

Just 14 months ago we had so much oil we were selling some of it.

We do have a SUV (Jeep Grand Cherokee" , but it averages 26 mpg.  when we take it for a day drive , and about 23 local.   So it ain't really bad.  Undecided

The problem is that the oil is in Texas, Arkansas and Alaska - and the "Dipsticks" are in Washington DC!

It has been recently. I'm seeing diesel in my area for $4.749 per gallon and regular is usually $3.999.

It isn't always true though. I remember during the gas crunch after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 where diesels was consistently $1 to $1.50 per gallon cheaper than gas.

I got Three gallons of diesel yesterday for fifteen bucks.
When I was a kid, gas cost me about 35 cents, six bucks was pretty much a fill up.
I was making a buck sixty. So, after tax,I could get about three and a half gallons per labor hour.
I was just sixteen, and was buying my own clothes, eating maybe one meal a week at home, putting at least two tanks through that283 ,buying booze, adding speakers and the all important eight track, and I always had money in my pocket.
But I did work 48 hours three weeks a month and took Sunday off one week, just making forty .  Between that and school, I don't know when I slept.
Idk if they still do it, but I was able to check out of school just shortly after lunch.

So, how much Time does it cost to buy a gallon now?
Every cent spent eats at the labor hours that make up a check.

If gas is five, and you have no dependents, IDK what you would have to make to wind up with five bucks after tax. But to be able to buy three gallons per labor hour, you fer dang sure gonna need that fifteen bucks an hour Plus.
And I was taking it to a gas station for oil changes. Didn't have tools or a place to do it myself. Don't remember what it cost me, but I'm pretty sure it was Not the seventy dollars I just paid a couple of weeks ago for the wife's car.
