The problem is not accepting that lies can come from absolutely any source. But if the lie supports your view then it's ok to pretend it is true, like saying the CDC said to code people with Covid as dying "From" it. Total lie, but just pretend it is true.

Or that millions of kids had heart attacks from Covid, or that thousands of military personnel are disabled daily from it, that's ok to pretend is true and keep repeating as fact. Nobody would lie about that.

In this case Birx stated they "hoped" the vaccines would work in that way, but there is no evidence that the CDC actually said they would at that time. Is it stupid that some people claimed the vaccine would stop re-infection without evidence? Absolutely.

Is it stupid to pretend that known lies are true, and lack any evidence, because you want it to be true? Absolutely.
