Funny! And one of the many reasons I never got along with catchers.

I just love how the catcher blames the batter for being in his way.  So much like a huge swath of society today!

If that wasn't intentional, I don't know how else to explain it.
The batter really should have been backing away.
And Now he knows that.

Why should he have to back away ?
The pitch had JUST been made and the catcher immediately throws directly into the batter.
If it was an accident then why didn’t he check to see if the batter was ok before turning to the umpire?

IDK the rules. I was just thinking he's kinda in the way, but it's pretty obvious he threw the ball right into the batter. I'm absolutely terrible at hitting anything. Throwing anything and hitting the intended target is just not something I do well. But even I would not have hit the guy. Well, not with the ball, anyway. My spastic follow through Mighta come close.

You spose he was looking to the ref to see if he was going to the showers?

Maybe the runner on second was stealing third at the time ?   Either that or the catcher just wanted to see how well the ball would bounce of a soft belly ?
Kind of mean spirited in my option.

The batter can't be called for interference as long as he stays in the batter's box and doesn't wave their arms and legs or the bat.

So yeah, the catcher is being dumb here. lol

You know, that's what I thought but there's numerous clips of the catcher attempting to throw a runner out and striking the batter or his bat and he's called out for interference.

I'd like to see what happened after the clip.

ok easy to find durham bulls vx pawtucket red sox.

ump just looked at him like wtf are you doing and didn't give him the call.
