I’m a multi project guy too , but not like you. I like smaller projects m/c , guitars , house crap , etc.

The Dakota just happens to have the exact same wheel base as a '52 Studebaker truck - 112". They are cheap to find, and the Stude is not on it's original frame. So it is a perfect candidate for a body swap resto-mod. It will be riding on modern(ish) suspension, power rack & pinion steering, disc brakes, and 400+ horsepower.

Most of my stuff in there is on wheels. The shelving units, my weld table, the gantry crane, engine hoist, etc. It makes it easy to reconfigure as needed when the projects have to get shuffled. I had aspirations to build a bigger shop when we bought this property until I found out what the construction costs were. Had to reel in my expectations a bit and went with 25' x 40' - 1000 sq ft. I had also planned on a deep sink and a toilet, but that would have added $10k to the build costs! Shocked

I determined I can run back and forth to the house quite a few times for $10,000!

The Dakota chassis is finally going to the blaster today. Once it returns it will get a coat of rust inhibitor like POR15 or the like. I found some less expensive stuff called Chassis Saver that I am looking into.

And yes, this is still hanging around waiting for me to build the motor. Sitting next to my $40 parts bike that I still haven't torn down.

No title, no bill of sale, no paperwork. Not sure the frame is straight as it has been in a wreck. Front rim, forks, handle bars all bent. Every turn signal and mirror broken. I am keeping the motor and anything that is straight and clean. The rest is going to the dump. I will have to cut the frame up and salt it into the weekly trash pick up. Nevada does not like vehicles without a title. It is already verified that it is not in the Stolen Vehicle Registry. Been out of the CA DMV since the 90's.

Eventually it will get a satin clear coat. Working on the guts right now in preparation of getting the drivetrain. The Baja is getting the priority though, as I have a 3 day trip in Death Valley at the end of this month. Still need to break in the new motor before I go.

Equipped with kick panel vents, vent windows, about a two foot steering wheel and a shifter that makes a comfortable place to lay a hand.
