I can't find the thread about the power making mac (Read 24 times)

justin_o_guy2 Serious Thumper Offline What happened? Posts: 55279 East Texas, 1/2 dallas/la.	I can't find the thread about the power making mac 12/13/22 at 09:35:47 machine.. But the rumor is that someone has finally accomplished Fusion. The power out is greater than the power required to kick off the reaction. That is some Seriously Sciency stuff. Anyone have the whole story? Is it true?

Its sort of true. I don't know if they made the press release yet, it is scheduled for today.

The issue is the lasers. They used much more energy powering the lasers in the project, so technically no they did not get more out than they put in. But it is a first for inertial confinement fusion, and the isolated experiment did indeed get have energy gain.

True,, IF we use isolated events. Take the load of the lasers out and Shazzam? The rest of it is magic. Well, I sure hope they can figure out how to solve that.

So until we can cheaply build those things, and power lasers for less energy than this ignition produces, this type of energy return is not on the table.
