We are on the brink of Christmas. And because Americans came from Europe and we have Saint Nicholas here; Santa Claus is actually no different than an evolved Saint Nicholas.

Saint Nicholas was a Spanish holy man who gave gifts to children. In the Netherlands he still comes every year on December 5 by boat from Spain with his servants to throw presents in our chimney.
