Cam tensioner mod using JB Weld? VerSlavy Mod
01/03/23 at 06:49:35
Hey guys. Been riding around and finally I think it’s time to do this mod. I fairly handy but I’m not a welder. Was wondering if it was possible to use the JB Weld epoxy to put together the moded tensioner instead of welding it. I researched and JB Weld can put up with temps up to 550f and bikes probably don’t go over 250f. What do you guys think?

JB Weld does not do well when exposed to heat , oil or vibration. You got all 3 , it would be a BAD idea !

In a word
No..
The cost of paying someone to weld it is nothing compared to the anxiety of knowing what the outcome of that failure could be. If it shat the bed at speed and puked the shaft into gears it Could lock the motor up.
Nearly every engine that saw the tensioner spontaneously disassemble was ruined.
IDK what all is disgorged into the crankcase when that happens, the spring is gonna be out there hunting gears to run through, that is all I know of..
Nothing good comes from it.
Since you're in there
Changing the clutch actuation rods Oring where it goes through the side cover costs about a quarter. Available at the local hardware store.
A leak there is just irritating, it's not under pressure, it's a drip,Mehh,,

You’re better off not touching it if you want to try JBWELD
