F100 came with some meager options like a heater , turn signals & illuminated cigarette lighter. It has nothing at one point it may have had a radio cause someone had installed a speaker with a crude grill to cover it. Leave exterior alone , clean & restore interior. I got a phone and a Bluetooth speaker for music that will be all the high tech she gets. It’s gonna have a nice interior, pretty much stock but I’ll have a nice seat made for it will custom cover to my specs. When interior is done I will have exterior lightly sanded and a dull clear coat put on it for preservation. Then drive it every chance I get and sell the Ranger. Ford Ranger are great trucks but I’m sick of rangers I’ve had 3 with a total mileage of way over a million miles , well 2 were Mazdas and I miss my International. So  the F100 will become my daily driver  , big fun !

So the turn signals and heater fan are inop. A almost totally manual heater. On the engine is a screw valve to turn off water flow to heater , my Scout 800 had same thing but also had a cable valve. I replaced screw valve with a set of ball valves with the lever , now can isolate coolant in heater from engine but intime core will warm up. So to turn heater on open hood , reach in between the “arm burner” exhaust and the spinning fan and the flip levers , close the hood , get in turn on blower motor , get out open passenger door adjust the two manual vent doors , close door , get back in , oh yeah wait for it to warm up while you towel dry the wind shield just to pass the time . Defroster ahh        ahh        ahhh it has vents coming up and     now if you want defrost do the Chinese fire drill again and close vent doors to get more air flow to defroster that is always on anyways. It’s got a fan knob , off then it’s like a volume control , some bad maybe melted wire. For cooling on a hot day turn off the under hood ball valves , turn vent windows in , open vent in front of windshield , big asz bug catcher but it does have a screen that promptly disassembles the bugs and distributes them at you feet.  Ford , a better idea ?        Grin

Today might be last dry day for a week or so , just weather man gettin excited about something other than Sun. But do some  more on the F100 today then back on Half Pint when it starts raining , some indoor stuff. Try to do the brakes on F100 a bit at a time over the winter and have seat rebuilt.
Think I’m gonna make the wife pay for the brakes and call it a Christmas gift. Living dangerously !

If it's old enough to have a single pot master cylinder, you Ottsta get a two pot one.
Much safer.

Where’s the fun it that ? Hand brake works , it’s
flat for miles , doesn’t really need brakes. But yeah I see your point. Going with the single OEM brakes. I’m an old mechanic I have a collection of brake spoons ! Almost got electrical sorted out. It starts from inside the cab now found fuse panel for turn signals and working on heater fan. The odometer reads 31640 and when I was removing what’s left of the visors and behind the drivers visor scratched into the paint  11971 New Motor. So I guess the engine was rebuilt/replaced about 19600 miles ago , she does run good , a bit of blowby , but not much , exhaust is clean.

I was in a wire line truck, leaving a parking lot, as I got to the road,I hit the brakes, and nothing happened. It LOOKED Just Like an Emergency, so,I grabbed the E brake,,, Yeah,, Nutthhin.. I rolled out into a major North bound road praying I wasn't gonna be on the news. Because One brake cylinder failed. They towed it to the shop. I replaced the one pot master cylinder and all four brake cylinders.
They called me Motorpool. I did the bodywork, mechanical work, electrical and operated equipment, rebuilt the triplex and centrifugal pumps, kinda did it all..and drove the 18 wheelers.

The joys of being a cheap as$. Rebuilding/repairing rather than replacing.
OEM , trying to keep it as stock as possible , stupid stuff like illuminated cigarette lighter , heater fan & turn signals. How ever 2 items I added , a backup flood light , no switch on trans so a manual switch under dash and stock it only has an oil light. So it’s gettin an oil pressure gauge plumbed with copper not plastic , more era correct & just looks cool too. That little loop at both ends acting as vibration dampener by letting it all flex. The rest oem , door , kick panels , headliner. Seat will be kinda custom & some left over carpet. Oem clean & plush in the cab , simple and not over done.

Not plastic.. Good call.
Loops at both ends. Roger that..
Are you rebuilding the brake cylinders? Those little hones aren't expensive.

Kit available , master cylinder , wheel cylinders , shoes , springs & small parts kit , hoses. Another kit to cover all fittings & brake light switch at master cylinder. And I’ll be bending all new lines too. I have tubing cutters , benders , flaring tools , brake spoons , hydraulic brakes & air brakes a specialty of mine from days gone by. Happy to use the skills I have , in 1955 a p/u truck wasn’t very complicated , easy for owners to repair themselves. So she runs well and in time she will roll again , brakes , tires & interior and I’ll have my vintage cruiser.  Cool

Flat is where I live , the biggest hill in town is an overpass. So F100 will be perfect for around town , grocery getter & generally just screwing around. The more she proves herself , the longer the adventures will be come. Maybe even some lake fishing up in the foot hills. She has an abnormally large tool/bed box in the bed , pretty sure I can fit inside it ! I won’t have a bunch of crap under the seat just a fire extinguisher , the rest can go in the tool box. Putting some new locks on it too. F100 may have had a 17-18 year break in service , but it’s time she gets back at it ! Working for me !

Still sorting out rats nest of wiring under dash. Fan control , lighter & T/S left. Flasher is on order , most of wiring removed won’t go back , 3 new fuse holders. Between my notes and the manual I’ll make a sub harness , old one butchered , lots of wires going no where doing nothing. Ran it today , it is charging after repairing field wire end.oil light inop and engine temp gauge reads incorrectly. Rain has passed , clear for a week , time to finish electrical before next rains.

You help me realize how lazy I am for getting a new truck instead of fixing one up !   Grin

At the end of the day I might have better fuel millage , but you'll probably have the better truck !   Smiley
