So, with all the chatter lately about squeaky, wobbly pulleys, I figure it’s time to revisit the gag. Drag Bike Mike came up with a tremendously clever solution to the problem. Basically, knock out the original pulley bearing and seal and install a double row/double sealed 5305-2RS super-heavy duty bearing. With the chubbier bearing, you need a narrower left hand axle spacer. Luckily, the OEM spacer can be modified to fit. A little lathe work, and Voila! Since no one else seems to want to do this, I modify stock spacers and offer them to the members (I need your original one back after you install mine). I’m posting this in Tech rather than Marketplace, because it seems a lot of folks don’t know the problem/fix. Easy way to tell if your bike needs one. If it’s a 650 Savage 9or any of the other names the bike is called), you need to do this fix. Grab the rear pulley and see if it has play in any direction. Basically all that is needed is to remove the rear wheel. Then pull the pulley assembly and knock out the bearing and seal. Install new bearing (find one on Ebay), toss the seal, install the new spacer, and reassemble! Shoot me a note with any questions. Thanks, -Armen
