Premade gasket or gasket maker sealer?
08/26/23 at 14:44:29
I’m replacing the clutch on my 2002 Hazuki. I was told to use a premade gasket then put gasket maker on both sides. It was a horrible mess gasket maker didn’t want to stick to the metal. After I cleaned that up someone said use spray adhesive on the premade gasket that faces the engine side and gasket maker on the clutch cover side. Can anyone clear it up for me?

You don't need any sealer. You could put a small dab where the sensor wire comes out but that's it.

Sometimes you might need all that (like after butchering the sealing surfaces after trying to scrape all that off) but I never have.
And I've used OEM and aftermarket gaskets. Just coat with a light coat of oil so it doesn't stick to the case permanently except around the oil channel.

I do the same as Verslagen.....I install gaskets without applying any sealer and use sealer where the bike came with sealer from the factory.
The use of sealer on gaskets is not necessary as long as the gasket is in good shape.
If you put the gasket on dry......chances are that the next time you take things apart it will have stuck to one or both sides and tear when you take things apart. A light coating of oil as Verslagen suggested keeps the gasket from sticking. The factory gaskets have a thin line of adhesive in specific places...don't oil the gasket in those locations.
