Ive been seeing starter rebuild kits on eBay. At the $60 mark. I used to rebuild starters , alternators , a/c compressors so it nothing new. I was wondering if anyone has tried one and what the outcome was. It all matters on the quality on the rebuild kit. I have a spare , I want to but a kit , just want some feedback on the quality , good quality parts and a kit that has everything to rebuild/reseal the starter. Thanks for any insight or feedback.

Since you know your way around starters, have you gone in and inspected it?
Busted magnets isn't unheard of. I've fixed a lawnmower starter but cleaning and using contact cement to get the magnet back to almost one piece.
What is that starter doing?
YaKnow, bench testing with an ammeter and whatever you have to supply it twelve volts.
I Think there is an oring trained at the factory to jump into the void when the starter is pulled away from the engine.

The only engine part I haven’t rebuilt yet. Project for a rainy day , clean up the spare and try a rebuild kit , shelf it with the other tracker spares.

A few owners have had the magnets come unglued, and the magnet lodged into the armature. I suspect they had bikes that didn't want to start and the owner overheated the starter and loosened the glue.

I have had a few of these apart to clean up and repaint - they come apart and go back together pretty easily. I have never found one that needs new parts - just a good cleaning.

Someday I will be old......But not today!
