Happy new year everyone. I think I made mistake on carb modification.
my bike is 2008 Canada model. I did cab modification couple years back. I had zero carb expience until this bike. Last year bike was running so poorly, lots of back fire and poor gas mileage so that I decide to recheck. I have a harley muffler. From Suzuki part finder website, currently from top of carb I have pilot air jet#1 45(original), pilot jet #2 150(original size is 230), Bottom jets are all original pilot jet 52.5 and main jet as 145(original). I did spacer mod too. I think I made mistake instead replace bottom main jet size from 145 to 150, I replaced top original 230 pliot air jet # 2 to newly bought 150 jet. Can anyone help me comfirm that what side of jet I should use from top jets to bottom jets please. Thank you.

In general, I wouldn't change any of the jets other than main and pilot. An '08 carb doesn't have 2 air pilots listed, may be another year. You have to go back to '86-'88 to find 2 air pilots. The carb specs post in the tech section does have some info and pic's.

Are you referring to the air jets located on top of the carb? Dropping from a #230 to a #150 is a BIG change.

I would also check that the petcock is working correctly. The stock vacuum-operated petcocks are prone to failure. If it ran okay "a couple of years back" and things went downhill from there it could be the petcock.

I would inspect the spark plug and ensure no fuel is mixed in with the oil.

Leave the top jets alone, those remain stock.
Work with the bottom jets.
The pilot jet (bottom) has been a #52.5 for years and works good for most locations near or at sea level. Adjust pilot screw as needed for best/highest rpm, then adjust idle screw to set idle rpm at 1100 rpm.
The main jet (bottom) has been 145 for years as well, but should be a 150 or 152.5. When I had a stock carb on my bike it had a 152. I lived in SC, altitude about 3-500’. For every 3-5000’ increase in altitude decrease jet size by one step. Pick one and try it, if it runs clean and strong with the throttle wide open in 3rd or 4th, then Your good to go.
