I feel like I’m gonna flip over backwards with forward controls , so no. A standard mid controls is my preference. Rear sets are good for certain bikes , I like that rear sets keep your body position in attack mode. Guess forward , comfy , mids not as comfy , rear sets not so comfy. Has to be mids or rear sets for me. No cruisers bikes in my stable

I had the 500 version for a few years and it was a wonderful bike with enough power but not too much.

You know , I'll register it in Tn. for ya if I can. Does it crank up on command ?
I like the idea of two valves per cylinder and it's about the same HP as my newer 650cc even with the old Tec. I remember the fuel millage being in the high 50's too.

I had that exakt model,

I toured France with it for 2 months when I was 22. A really nice bike to tour on. And very reliable.

At the end of my holiday we were in Paris and it started to rain heavily, so we drove home at full speed in one go, which was about 350 miles. No problem at all.

It has a cover on the bottom of the engine so that you can easily access your gears without having to take the engine apart. (When I bought it it had difficulty shifting)

Later I bought the cb750 which had way more power.
Unfortunately It was stolen when I was in Amsterdam for a day.

I have the 71 500f and I need to get back to it... soon.

A friend asked me about pegs so I started looking and thinking about adding to my catalog.

I saw these and thought they would be easily adapted to the savage.

I'm thinking back to the W650 I found in a shed a couple years ago. I made a few hundred bucks on it after getting to ride it for a year or two. It was fun putting it into shape again too .

It did not have a seat and you had to stand up while riding - and you absolutely "had" to put on your tall boots to ride it. If you slipped off the peg and your shin hit the top of the peg - it would shave the meat right off the bone!

Dave that Sherpa 250 was a fine looking bike ! I'd want a pair of those pegs on one of them if a (low-used) one was available . I sold the DR200 because it had a rattle I didn't like , but I still would like to have a similar machine to play on.

Am I the only one who has given a glance at the Honda 150 Dual Sport or the Hawk ? Huh

Tracker & Harley have aluminum pegs. I much prefer a stock rubber foot pegs , less vibration and good grip. Never rode a bike with running boards , that would be different. Stock rubbery pegs suit me just fine !
