I did not know that, that is seriously possible, as the clear signs of dementia can be clearly seen if you look at clips from 20 years ago. He used to have a vocablulary, but now he just has a few superlatives, horrible beautiful, the biggest, no ones ever seen anything like it, ect.

Yes the psychiatrist being interviewed did mention the Goldwater rule that you reference, but he's not in practice so it doesn't apply to him. You then went on to discount him because he didn't examine trump personally.

And while that is true, that was part of the very point he was making, dementia is not like alzheimers, dementia is more subtle and the point is that it is usually diagnosed not by examination of the person but by observation, by interview his loved ones. So for people who know the signs it's pretty clear.
