I think it's a controversial decision, but what I understand from the news here in Europe is that children are being exposed on some social media sites to the most nasty people you can imagine.
Even in an organized way. The news here in europe testifies all kinds of abuses that children cannot protect themselves against. You don't send your small children to another state by train to buy you a pack of cigarettes either and you have good reasons for that.
If I look at Instagram for example, there is a lively drug trade there and not only run by adults, most dealers there are children and young adults.
I do wonder how efficiently you can enforce this, but I understand his decision.
I don't think the kids will like this at all. It's good that as a parent you can say that the government is not allowing it. We all know how convenient that is.
And we have to see how it works out, every advantage has it,s disadvantage.
To me it shows he cares, and that he is willing to do what is right. I love that.
