Difficulty starting 2019 S40
04/25/24 at 15:16:36
Hi all:
I ride daily, but mainly it's for my commute to work, which is about a 15-minute commute. I had a hard time starting this morning and am wondering if it's because I don't ride enough for a single ride but also suspect the battery is 5 years old (I have a 2019). Any battery recommendations?
I read one recommendation was Big Crank. I also read to avoid MotoBatt.

I have no complaints about these Pirate/Chrome batteries. Only $47. I’ve used them on 3 different LS650s and I have a different sized one on my Honda Shadow Spirit. They have a 45-day refund period and 12 month warranty. At least they offer some kind of warranty for a cheap battery. Pirate is a brand of Chrome. You’ll see the same batteries under both names with different labels on them.

Then I take my old battery to Autozone and they give me $10-$20 for a core charge return. It’s like getting a new battery for $27 or $37 (I can’t remember if they gave me $10 or $20 for the core charge return.). I’m frugal. My wife says I’m cheap.

I think you’re right, Zip! Unless you own a Tesla or EV! That must be where the battery-makers are sticking it to the consumers!

A good lithium battery will give you years of use without any maintenance.
I've had a couple of Antigravity batteries and they have been great. The only drawback is they are Li-ion so you can ruin them if you run them dead a few times. A good LifePo4 should be even more durable.
