You can see the dry rot in the tread grooves. I wouldn’t ride on it. It looks like you have it off the rim and bike. Next stop is to donate it to the WalMart or Discount Tire dumpster.

Yes, it kind of looks like crap. You can get an IRC for $124 on Dennis Kirk today. Or, you can take Dave's advice like I did and switch to a 130/90-15. Revzilla has Shinko and Kenda for about $90. I think the absolute maximum tire age you ever want to keep is 10 years. Don't let the presence of tread fool you (not a consideration in your case). I bought a hardly-used 2012 Savage a couple years ago. The tires looked good because they only had 800+ miles on them. They were so hardened and gripless that I wouldn't ride on them.
