Did somebody say “Free Healthcare “?  Bwahahaha. Bwahahaha!

Just because you aren't paying for it anymore, the younger generations sure are.  And just wait until they start rationing care.

In 2024, Canada spent an estimated $372 billion on health care, or $9,054 per Canadian. This is expected to be a 5.7% increase from 2023.

Proud and happy to say I live in the USA despite our issues.

0.1 millisieverts (mSv) of radiation is something a normal human walking around on the planet will receive in less than 2 weeks.  That's a standard chest X-ray.  A chest CT is about 6.1 mSv.  People that go on a beach vacation regularly will get hit with about that much.

Then again people say millions of kids died from the vaccine so CT scans must be killing hundreds of millions of people a year.

I don't believe in taking any risks with my life, I only have the one.

Feel free to do whatever you want with yours though.  Grin

What a miserable, pathetic, and sad life you must live to be so ugly and negative about everything - from the USA to any motorcycle with technology after 1970.  I’d pity you, but you’re not worth it.

Why do any of you care if a Canadian is getting free Canadian healthcare?  Even if that healthcare is free from the US?  Because he said something bad about the US?  Who cares.

I’m not sure whom you are talking to, but I kinda take offense to being called a dimwit American for finding it ignorantly laughable that someone calls it “free healthcare”.

By comparison to the US healthcare system, it is more "free" than "paid" when receiving services by my logic simply because a human is not charged for the direct medical service.  Like a buy one get one free item at a store.  Not free, but I wasn't directly charged for it, so it's more "free" to me than explaining how percentage markups on other items mitigate the non-charged item by passing cost through other items.

Technically nothing is "free" when it comes to Government services, so in that regard there is no "free" anything if a human has ever paid any taxes.

Like how I can freely travel from State to State.  Technically I can't because I don't use private property to do it.  I have "free" speech, but technically 1st Amendment violations are handled in US courts so I pay for that right.  I'd say just about anything can be challenged in that way.

Your logic and analogies are merely rationalizations.  Just because you don’t physically hand over a dollar for something at the time of service doesn’t mean it’s free.  You’re playing mind games with yourself.

There is nothing inherently better about a single-payer system than a multi-payer system.  And it’s a joke if you think any government can be more efficient than a free market system.

I don't care, but quite a few people here seem to care a lot, I hope they explain why.  Smiley

That's what I am saying.  I literally said buy one get one free is not free.  Nothing really is "free" when dealing with transactional interactions.  The difference is the Canadian system doesn't cripple the sick individual with outstanding medical debt.  It's not "free", but you also don't rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars of personal debt.  So Canadian healthcare is more "free" than US healthcare when it comes to personal funds used to mitigate cost.

There is nothing inherently better about a single-payer system than a multi-payer system.  And it’s a joke if you think any government can be more efficient than a free market system.

The tradeoff being a multi-payer system rarely plummets the individual into irrecoverable lifetime debt, many times even passed on to the family after death.  However there is the consequence of less innovation and efficiency.

The question is why does anyone care if a Canadian gets Canadian healthcare?

I think the vast majority of healthcare is a waste of time, Canadian healthcare included.
The only time it's worth having healthcare coverage is if you get in an accident and need to get your injuries fixed.
The healthcare industry does not want to cure anyone, there is no profit in that, they want to keep you sick.

I'll add my opinion. I am a Trump voting Republican btw. I agree with blod. I get a lot of scoffing from my peers but oh well. I do think healthcare should be cheap/free for all citizens and permanent residents.

I don't think Democrats have a good solution though. They are all talk and no action. Democrats all of a sudden forget about healthcare once they have power.  The rest of their platform is just straight insanity to me. Republican politicians simply ignore the problem. Screwed by both sides.

I could rant on about other topics too. My views completely changed once I got hired by a European company operating in the US. The difference between working for a European ran company vs an American company is absolutely staggering. I actually feel human rather than just another number.
