I could rant on about other topics too. My views completely changed once I got hired by a European company operating in the US. The difference between working for a European ran company vs an American company is absolutely staggering. I actually feel human rather than just another number.

 You want a good culture shock, jump over to a Japanese company.  I've never seen so many people dedicated to work and sacrificing their personal lives.
