An embarrassed National Rifle Association says it totally forgot to do the one thing it has been saying for years it is solely there to do.
“Our whole reason for lobbying for looser gun laws and amassing huge personal arsenals of weapons these past years was so that we could ensure the security of a free state and protect the people from an oppressive government. And then it actually happened, and the whole rising up against a tyrannical government thing just totally slipped our minds, which is a little embarrassing,” a sheepish NRA CEO Doug Hamlin said.
He said the morale around the NRA has been pretty low. “The guys feel pretty silly. We had our well regulated militia stocked up and ready to go, just waiting for the moment when the Government would turn on its own people.
"And then the government started cracking down like an authoritarian regime, and we were like ‘guys this is the one we’ve been talking about, let’s go!’. But then something else came up and we forgot to do it. darnit!”.
Observers were shocked that the NRA had missed their opportunity to defend their country. “I can’t believe it,” one analyst said. “It’s almost as if they weren’t worried about the government at all. It’s as if they were actually just scared of Black people”.

“We can’t normalize what this president is doing,” Walsh said. “For the first time in our country’s history we have a sitting American president who is literally refusing to accept the will of the people. Let’s not normalize this. And we have a party, a Republican party, that is allowing him to do it.”

Joe Walsh, former GOP Representative

"The Republican Party is a dying national political party, and the sooner it can die the better for all of us," Walsh, who now identifies as an independent, told MSNBC on Sunday.

"It is literally the party of old white men and old white women.... The sooner we can have something better and new come along, I think the better for the rest of the country," the former representative said. Walsh described the Republican Party as "a cult," emphasizing that he has said this many times before.

"If you want to be viable in the Republican Party, you have to get down on your knees every day and kiss Donald Trump's feet," Walsh said, adding, "It's the same way in conservative media." He said his conservative talk radio show was canceled due to his opposition to Trump.

You are proving my point exactly: I am making a legally sound argument, and you are completely avoiding it by throwing a flood of moral outrage and isolated incidents at me. You pretend to be having a discussion, but in reality you are using this forum as a mouthpiece for your own right.

You call authoritarianism a danger, and rightly so, but what you are doing is another form of intellectual authoritarianism: dismissing every dissenting voice as 'dangerous', 'brainwashed', or 'anti-American'. No room for nuance, no distinction between criticism and complicity, no willingness to listen. You call that 'moral', I call it rhetorical dominance.

I did not defend Trump, I explained something about how legislation and presidential powers work. If even that is too much for you, then you are not the one standing up for the democratic rule of law here, but the one undermining it.

To answer your question: Give ONE example of how he has improved the lives of anyone.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Accords

The Abraham Accords were designed and introduced by the United States under the leadership of President Donald Trump, with significant involvement from his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner, and his special envoy for the Middle East Avi Berkowitz.

He should have won a Nobel Prize for that.

Pardon me; I forgot how limited the MAGA position is on nuance--- y"all are the all or nothing, black vs white thinkers, after all. I meant name ONE thing 47 has done to improve the lives of non-rich US CITIZENS.  And, Just to point out here, the Abraham Accords were only good for Israel--- Palestine still got screwed. Palestine is the underdog in that situation. Before the 1950s, Israel WAS Palestine, after all. So, you're ok with Israel taking the country away from the Palestinians, in spite of that breaking the UN regulations, to honor a 2000 year old book of mythology? No wonder you are OK with Russia taking part of Ukraine!

You still haven't justified the lack of due process that ICE has begun, either.

I'm still waiting for something 47 has done that improved the lives of normal US citizens. Really, The GOP has done nothing for US citizens for at least 40 years. The only improvements have come from the Dems, the OTHER conservative party.

You asked for one example, I gave you one. Dismissing it outright and shifting the goalposts doesn't invalidate the example, it just shows you're not interested in engaging honestly.

You talk about nuance, but you apply none. The Abraham Accords, like any peace deal, weren't perfect, but they did reduce tensions in a historically volatile region. Brushing that off because it doesn't fit your domestic narrative shows more about your ideological tunnel vision than about the merits of the policy itself.

As for domestic policy, fine, let's debate that. But not if you're going to demonize every differing view. Like it or not, demonization is not a form of moral authority.

If you really want a debate, respond to arguments, not caricatures.

Bullshit. You knew what I was asking, and you had nothing, so you pulled something out of your a$$. You still have nothing, because there IS nothing.

OK, so you cannot give an example. I'll give you an out: Defend 47's nullification of due process, illegal search and seizure, and /or deportation of legal US citizens. You're so into "legally justifiable" you shouldn't have any problem doing that, assuming 47 is not breaking Constitutional or federal law.

Your tone and approach leave little room for meaningful conversation. When every differing opinion is met with insults and bad-faith assumptions, continuing becomes pointless. You’re not looking for dialogue, you’re looking for an echo chamber. I’m not here to waste my energy on that.

I’ve already mentioned in previous threads that I no longer want to engage in discussions conducted in that way. I live among people who value honesty and open-hearted living, and who work to nurture that in themselves and others.

The contrast here is too stark. Engaging in this kind of hardened debate pulls me in a direction I actively choose to avoid. So this will be my last word in this thread.

Thank you for expressing my feelings in a cogent manner.
The leftards have said We are not sophisticated enough to even grasp nuance, but it is they who are locked into black and white. Never wrong. Biden was sharp as a tack. The Russian dossier was real. The laptop, Russian disinfo.
