Squeaky belt

so today after my ride I noticed that my belt is starting to squeak, BUT only squeaks in certain areas otherwise it’s quiet. The belt was adjusted apparently when it was certified for the road, and I can see the marking from a plant marker I’m assuming he used. Never made noise before but today it did start to squeak

Also my front brakes are squealing when I back the bike up too lol 🤔 darn bike sounds like a little piggy lol

Maybe I’ll see about snapping a small clip and posting too. Not sure if maybe the alignment is off or what Won’t be able to get at this until likely Saturday or Sunday night

I run my belt a little bit looser than most - I prefer not having excess loads on the front and rear pulley bearings. Use the finger twist method to adjust....you want to be able to twist the belt 90 degrees with your thumb and finger somewhat easily. Also check the alignment and adjust so the belt runs in the middle of the rear pulley with clearance on both sides. Don't spray anything on the belt - but rubbing candle wax or soap on the sides can help quiet the squeak.

The original front brake pads from Suzuki can squeak as they age. Replace them with EBC organic brake pads and the noise will go away, and your brake will work a bit better.

IMO, belt noise on the LS is related to the ball bearing in the rear pulley hub. That bearing is a single groove ball bearing and is usually in the toilet at about the 1000 mile mark. Once that bearing is loose, no amount of fiddling with wheel alignment can stop the noise. That's because it's not the wheel that's out-of-alignment, it's the pulley. Installing a double row ball bearing fixes the problem permanently. I've logged about 82,000 miles on my Bejing Bearing and the belt is still quiet as a church mouse. The bearing is still smooth and shows no signs of wear. Almost no pulley side-to-side play.

This old post provides the gory details. It's easy & cheap (at least it was cheap 5 or 6 years ago). Check your rear pulley for excessive play.

Well I’m hoping it’s just the belt that’s needing adjustment, as it does feel a tad tight when trying to the flip the belt 90degrees, at least more force then I would think that’s needed.

Seems to only squeak in some sections tho a little, gonna have a better look when I can get it up on my lift and spin the tire and listen and watch. Not sure why it would be needed though as nothing has really changed and well I do drive a little aggressive though sometimes (mostly just hammering through some gears) lol. My dad was saying when he was listening and watching the belt would move from one side to another when it would squeak but I could not see that when sitting on it and rolling it forward and backward.

Once I’m home I’ll see about taking a small clip and posting it and hopefully you guys can chime in on what I have happening, before I start pulling things apart and changing this or that lol
