What to do, what to do?
Fire the jobs lady, put in a lackey that will cook the books to Trump's satisfaction
Much the equivalent of using a sharpy to redirect the direction of a hurricane

.. but who would such a thing?

Even the "gains" in jobs he claims are due to him having to rehire the people he illegally fired in the first place. Angry

Obviously we can't trust the job numbers unless Trump says we can.

Yes, the recent job numbers revisions were significantly larger than typical. According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and various reports, the revisions for May and June 2025 were notably substantial:
•  May 2025: Initially reported as +144,000 jobs, revised down to +19,000, a reduction of 125,000 jobs.
•  June 2025: Initially reported as +147,000, revised down to +14,000, a reduction of 133,000 jobs.
•  Combined: A total downward revision of 258,000 jobs for these two months, which the BLS described as “larger than normal.”
Additionally, an earlier revision for the period from April 2023 to March 2024 reduced job growth estimates by 818,000, bringing the monthly average from 242,000 to 173,500 jobs. This was the largest annual benchmark revision since 2009, when employment was revised down by 902,000. Over the previous decade, annual revisions averaged around ±173,000 jobs, making the 818,000 adjustment about five times the typical magnitude.

I believe some of the hire/fire/re-hire/fire has something to do with it.  The DoJ had thousands "resign" because they had an email response requirement that was due by midnight on a Monday and tons of DoJ employees work 10 hour days with Mondays off.

Sat 7:13AM to Mon 11:59AM.  Was that in a report?  I don't know.  Should it be?  No, not the actual jobs report, but it should be documented since all those accounts had to resubmit their health plan elections.

There are so many unintended consequences with these DOGE shenanigans.  I know a human that is retiring after 30 years of Federal service in October, and she is fighting to keep her retirement health plan because they require 5 years of "consecutive" coverage to qualify.  On paper she did not have continual coverage because her health plan lapsed when she "resigned" by being off work the week of the email requirement.  That's an incredible degree of personal cost in the future that is of no fault of her own if it is not resolved.

Government has been in the business of screwing their employees for decades. I worked with guy whose wife had 19 years in with the Texas Unemployment Office. She went home on Friday and when she went to work Monday the stationery had a different heading, the building, a new sign, it was a Different facility, in the same building with the same operational goals. She lost her pension.
Texas,,where everything is Bigger, includin the screwins..

People cheat. People steal. People manipulate data for their own reasons.
Could this have been done due to honest consequences of employees shifting around? Sure. Was it? I have no way to know for sure right now so I have to make an educated guess.

But Trump’s 40,000 foot view of things is more often right than wrong. His ability to articulate details suck, but his pattern recognition is exceptional.  I say it’s more likely this was intentional manipulation to make up look bad.

And regarding the negative consequences of DOGE, let me just say the consequences of the system we developed by growing a monstrosity known as the government bureaucracy aren’t discussed enough.  People sitting in an office with nothing to do, harmed a countless number of lives.
