I am really not riding my little S40 at all anymore, it just sits outside. I probably rode it twice in the last two years, both times less than 20 miles. Wanted to take it for a short spin yesterday, but the electrical connections must have corroded badly. When I turn the ignition key on, I have to wiggle the key inside for the lights to come on. And my start button has been acting up for a long time, now it just refuses to work, the contact inside must be corroded. Wondering if I just use a jump cable to the positive lead on the starter, is that going to do the trick? At least to circumvent the start button?

Was able to get it started. I wonder if there is some magic spray that I could spray into the switches that would clean up the corrosion on the contacts.

As far as the ignition lock, the lock and the cylinder seem solid, its the core of the cylinder that causes intermittent contact. When I insert the key and wiggle it up and down, the dash turns on and off.
