Fuel cap has been leaking so my first step was to flip over the existing gasket and get some measurements while it was out. I really thought I was being careful, but when I went to pick up the internal cover for the locking mechanism to reassemble, a spring and one of the retractable latch pins had dislodged. And an interesting washer with a small hole that doesn't appear to align perfectly with anything, no matter how it's positioned.

Man, there's a lot of parts in there!

I worked with it a bit, trial and error, and I think I have it back together correctly, but would really like to be sure.

Anyone have detailed pics of how these things are assembled?

Also, I've always had to use the key to reinsert the cap on the tank. Just wanted to be sure that's how they all work. Should the retractable latches spring inward without the key, so you can just press it back on, sans key?

Not a CA bike. No charcoal canister. I can hear the ball bearing moving freely in the vent when I invert the cap.
